Eagles announce some roster moves following the Cowboys game – Bleeding Green Nation

The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced some transactions on Tuesday afternoon. An overview:

  • OG Isaac Seumalo and S K’Von Wallace were placed on injured reserve.
  • T/G Jack Driscoll and CB Josiah Scott, who are both on IR, had their 21-day practice windows started.
  • TE Richard Rodgers was released from the practice squad.

Let’s sort through this on a player-by-player basis.

ISAAC SEUMALO

Seumalo is out for the season with a Lisfranc injury, according to the team. Tough for the Eagles to lose their starting left guard. Especially after previously losing their starting right guard and starting left tackle, though the latter could be back sooner than later.

Speaking in his postgame press conference, Jason Kelce got emotional about Seumalo’s injury. The veteran center has often argued that Seumalo is an underrated member of the team

Nate Herbig is currently the top candidate to replace Seumalo in the starting lineup. He filled in for Seumalo on Monday night and has experience under his belt after making 12 starts in 2020.

K’VON WALLACE

Wallace’s shoulder injury reportedly won’t require surgery. He’s expected to miss three-to-six games. His absence leaves the Eagles even thinner at safety. Philly could really afford to get Rodney McLeod back this week. Even if he returns, they could afford to add more depth on the back end. Promoting Elijah Riley to the roster is a potential option.

JACK DRISCOLL

Driscoll began the season on IR after suffering a pectoral strain. He’s now eligible to be activated since three weeks have passed. The Eagles can assess Driscoll in practice this week and see if he’s ready to potentially play in Sunday’s game. He could be the top backup at right guard behind Landon Dickerson. Also potentially the top backup at right tackle behind Lane Johnson.

JOSIAH SCOTT

Scott began the season on IR after suffering a hamstring injury in the Eagles’ preseason finale. Scott’s return gives the Eagles more depth at nickel cornerback. He can also help out on special teams.

RICHARD RODGERS

The Eagles brought Dick Rod back after Zach Ertz went on the reserve/COVID-19 list early last week. With Ertz back on the roster, they no longer needed Rodgers around as an emergency elevation option. His departure frees up a practice squad spot.
