Roster Moves: Bears trade for Grant from Dolphins – ChicagoBears.com

The Bears on Tuesday acquired receiver/return specialist Jakeem Grant from the Dolphins in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick. The trade is contingent on Grant passing a physical.

Selected by Miami in the sixth round of the 2016 draft out of Texas Tech, Grant has appeared in 70 games with eight starts for the Dolphins. He has averaged 9.7 yards with three touchdowns on 101 punt returns and 24.8 yards with two TDs on 89 kickoff returns. Grant has also caught 91 passes for 1,001 yards and five touchdowns.

The Bears made room on their roster by waiving receiver/return specialist Nsimba Webster, who averaged 3.3 yards on six punt returns in the first four games of the season.

The Bears also made two practice squad moves, re-signing running back Artavis Pierce and waiving linebacker Rashad Smith. Pierce initially joined the Bears last year as an undrafted rookie from Oregon State. He appeared in five games, rushing for 34 yards and one touchdown on six carries.
