No. 21 Texas leads No. 6 Oklahoma 28-7 at the end of the first quarter as the Longhorns have jumped out to a near-perfect start to the Red River Showdown. On the first play of the game, Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy caught a 75-yard touchdown and the Longhorns then blocked OU’s first punt attempt inside the 5-yard line to take a quick two-touchdown lead. 

Texas quarterback Casey Thompson completed 6-of-8 passes for 176 yards and three touchdowns, including scoring passes of 75 and 48 yards. Star running back Bijan Robinson has only touched the ball four times but has 31 yards rushing and a touchdown. 

Oklahoma has been shaken since that first play of the game by Texas, going three-and-out twice. Quarterback Spencer Rattler wasted an opportunity to tie the game by throwing an interception at midfield. He’s completed 6 of 11 passes for 49 yards, while the Sooners have already allowed a pair of sacks.
