Four players reverted to the New England Patriots’ practice squad on Monday after serving as call-ups against the Houston Texans, according to the NFL transaction wire.
Veteran interior lineman James Ferentz and defensive back Myles Bryant were Covid-19 replacements for New England’s 25-22 win at NRG Stadium. Reserve guards Alex Redmond and Will Sherman were standard elevations.
Ferentz, 32, started at left guard in the absence of incumbent Mike Onwenu and remained in for all 64 offensive snaps. The Iowa product has now appeared in 25 games and started five for New England since arriving in 2017. A two-time Super Bowl champion, Ferentz made previous NFL stops with the Texans and Denver Broncos after going undrafted in 2014.
Bryant, 23, subbed into the secondary for 11 downs on Sunday. The former Washington Husky recorded two tackles, including one for a loss of five yards. Bryant had appeared in nine games as an undrafted rookie last season to record 12 tackles and an interception. He’s played in both October matchups for the Patriots.
Redmond, 26, was active but did not take the field during New England’s visit to Houston. He entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA in 2016, and signed with the Patriots in May after logging 32 games and 24 starts with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Sherman, 22, saw six snaps on special teams as part of the field-goal unit in his NFL debut. The guard-slash-tackle out of Colorado was selected by New England in the sixth round of the 2021 draft, and joined the practice squad in September upon clearing waivers.
New England’s practice squad stands at its 16-man capacity following the reversions.
The Dallas Cowboys visit Gillette Stadium for a 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff next Sunday.
