It’s already the seventh Sunday of the NFL season, and while the Seattle Seahawks don’t play until their Monday Night Football matchup against the New Orleans Saints, the team has managed to stay in the Sunday news cycle. The big news Saturday were the injury updates on several key players, including Russell Wilson and Alex Collins, but on Sunday news of a name that could potentially be traded in the coming days took the headline.
L.J. Collier was, of course, the 2019 first round selection of the Seahawks, made in the wake of the trade that sent Frank Clark to the Kansas City Chiefs and following a trade down from the 21st overall position in the draft. Collier has seen limited playing time, with just 751 defensive snaps logged during his two plus seasons in Seattle. In particular, he has been a healthy scratch for four of six games this year after the team signed multiple defensive linemen in free agency, including Kerry Hyder, Benson Mayowa, Carlos Dunlap, Robert Nkemdiche and Al Woods, in addition to the emergence of 2020 second round pick Darrell Taylor and 2018 third round selection Rasheem Green.
The trade deadline for the 2021 NFL season is Tuesday, November 2 at 4:00 PM.
