This one wasn’t even close.
The Jaguars (1-6) couldn’t get anything going today against the Seattle Seahawks (3-5) as the team looked unprepared, lost and simply out-played throughout the contest. This week was a must-win situation for Seattle, and it showed.
All three units: offense, defense and special teams, for Jacksonville struggled and had unforced errors throughout the contest, from illegal formation penalties to too many men on the field, there were far too many inexcusable plays from the Urban Meyer led Jaguars.
This one had everything, including an onside-kick return for a touchdown for the Seahawks at the end of the contest to add insult to injury for Jacksonville.
Ultimately, Jacksonville would fall 31-7 to the Seahawks, a trip to the west coast that now puts the team’s record on the pacific side of the United States at 3-14 all time. The team would avoid the shutout with a touchdown pass from Trevor Lawrence to receiver Jamal Agnew with a little under two minutes remaining in the contest.

For the Jaguars, the team was coming out of a bye week with plenty of momentum in the positive direction but ultimately weren’t able to get it done as it faced backup quarterback Geno Smith.
Smith, coming off of a down week against the New Orleans Saints looked like an elite QB early against Jacksonville completing 14 out of 15 of his passes for 137 yards and a touchdown during the first half of the contest.
Smith’s first 10 passes would be completions, all to either star receivers DK Metcalf or Tyler Lockett.
He would finish by completing 20 out of 24 of his passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns on the day. Smith rushed for a touchdown early in the contest, too, stretching the ball across the goal line from one yard out.
The Jaguars started the game with a solid showing offensively, before ultimately failing to convert a fourth down, setting the stage for how the team’s offense would perform throughout the remainder of the contest.
Unable to get in sync, Lawrence and his receivers struggled to produce much offense. Coupled with an injury to star running back James Robinson (ankle) early, there wasn’t much of a chance for the team to get into a rhythm.
Though there was plenty of time left in the game, it appeared the Seahawks pulled too far away during the third quarter when the team went up 24-0 thanks to a second touchdown toss to Metcalf. An insurmountable lead by Seattle against Jacksonville’s young offense.
As for the rest of the contest for Jacksonville, a lot of any positive momentum would be derailed by penalties. On the day, Jacksonville accounted for 12 penalties for 93 yards. There wasn’t much to write home about, especially in the team’s passing game with its receivers.
On the day, tight end Dan Arnold was the team’s leading receiver with eight receptions for 68 yards on the day. Lawrence would finish by completing 32 out of 53 of his passes for 248 yards, one touchdown and one interception on the day.
Seattle finished with 229 net yards, an incredibly efficient performance from the Seahawks that needed to do very little in order to win today. The Jaguars finished with 277 net yards.
