Where does Odell Beckham Jr. go next? Keep an eye on the Seahawks. – USA TODAY

Now that the Cleveland Browns have granted Odell Beckham Jr. his release, it’s expected he will pass through waivers unclaimed and then hit free agency, where he will receive the opportunity to sign with the team of his choosing.

The New Orleans Saints have been linked to the eighth-year veteran — the squad made inquiries about Beckham at the trade deadline but opted against making a deal. Beckham also was born in New Orleans and played at LSU.

But another potential suitor to keep an eye on is the Seattle Seahawks, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak on behalf of the team.

Odell Beckham Jr. will likely pass through waivers and become a free agent.

The Seahawks have shown strong interest in acquiring the wide receiver, the person said. Quarterback Russell Wilson has urged Seahawks brass for a Beckham signing, and in recent days, team officials have done extensive research on the wideout.

Beckham would prefer to play for a contender, and alongside a veteran quarterback.

The Seahawks have talented wide receivers in Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf, but officials have wanted to make an additional splash at the position. Last year, they had interest in signing Antonio Brown, who ultimately chose the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Beckham is a three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver with five 1,000-plus yard seasons to his resume. But since the start of last season, he has played in just 13 games while recording 40 catches for 551 yards and three touchdowns. Beckham didn’t score a touchdown in six games for Cleveland this season.
