Alabama wide receiver John Metchie is “probably gonna be out” after suffering a leg injury in Saturday’s SEC championship game, coach Nick Saban said.
Saban did not elaborate further on Metchie’s injury or timetable.

“I think we have some young guys that are going to get opportunities now,” Saban said.
Metchie’s injury came without contact while he was running a pass route during Alabama’s late first-half drive. He went to the ground and appeared to grab his left knee. Metchie later walked to the sideline slowly under his own power.
Metchie went to the locker room shortly before halftime with a trainer and team doctor. The junior wide receiver was back on the sideline in the second half without his helmet.
He caught six passes for 97 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown in the first quarter, before departing.
Sophomore Traeshon Holden caught two passes for 21 yards while seeing increased playing time, and freshman Ja’Corey Brooks added one catch for nine yards.
Saban said Slade Bolden “played really well” after finishing with five catches for 54 yards, including a key 24-yard third-down conversion in the fourth quarter.
