With the NFL regular season in the books, it’s time to recognize top performers with our All-Pro teams.
Here’s a position-by-position look at offense, defense and special teams. We did not choose a long snapper. If you have a problem with that, you can take it up with customer service.
Note that we’re using 11 personnel (one running back, one tight end, three wide receivers) on offense and nickel personnel (two linebackers, three cornerbacks, two safeties) on defense. Stats are courtesy of TruMedia and Pro Football Focus unless otherwise noted. EPA stands for Expected Points Added and is used as a performance metric. You can learn more about that and success rate here.
First-team QB: Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers
He ranked first in EPA per play, first in QBR, and first in DVOA. Rodgers’ 0.8% interception rate was tops among starters. And he fumbled once — once! The Packers had the NFL’s top offense (in terms of EPA per drive) and are the top seed in the NFC. Rodgers is still capable of making the high degree-of-difficulty throws, but he doesn’t lean on those plays unless he has to. He’s capable of sitting in the pocket, getting rid of the ball quickly and carving up defenses too. Rodgers is ridiculously efficient, he can make the 1% throws, and he rarely makes mistakes.
