Brittany Matthews, Jackson Mahomes have turned the internet against the Chiefs – New York Post

Chiefs Kingdom may be the only fanbase lauding Brittany Matthews’ postgame theatrics.

After Kansas City’s 42-36 overtime victory against Buffalo on Sunday, NFL fans quickly threw their support to the Bengals ahead of next week’s AFC Championship game. While the NFL world remains in awe of Patrick Mahomes after another virtuoso performance, the internet seems unified in their annoyance towards his supporters — specifically, his fiancée, Matthews, and younger brother, Jackson.

“It’s America Vs. Jackson Mahomes and Brittany Matthews. Godspeed, Joe Burrow,” one fan tweeted Sunday night, while another posted a clip of Burrow, the Bengals’ quarterback, smoking a cigar after his national championship win with LSU in 2020.

One fan also griped, “The Bills were 13 seconds from eliminating Jackson Mahomes & Brittany Matthews, thats what hurts the most.”

The Chiefs tied the Bills in regulation, 36-36, thanks in large part to Mahomes, who threw two passes to get Kansas City into field goal range after getting the ball back with just 13 seconds left. The Chiefs got the ball first in overtime after the Bills lost the coin toss, and scored a touchdown to win. Buffalo’s offense never saw the field again.

“NEVER DOUBT US,” Matthews tweeted Sunday night while Jackson fired off a Bills Mafia-esque message: “TIME TO BREAK SOME TABLES.”

Matthews has fiercely defended the Chiefs on Twitter throughout the 2021 season, sometimes drawing the ire of social media critics. Jackson, meanwhile, has found himself at the center of several controversies, most recently in December, when he was accused of acting entitled by a Kansas City hotspot.

The polarizing duo was also called out last month by Instagram star Amanda Vance, a diehard Steelers fan, who was the apparent target of Kansas City supporters after the Chiefs’ Week 16 win against Pittsburgh.

“Talk you crap in my dms KC fans, but you have to deal with this for the next 15 years,” Vance wrote on her Instagram Story, per Awesemo.com, which included a photo of Matthews and Jackson.

With the Chiefs hosting the Bengals at Arrowhead next Sunday, it’s likely Twitter will be watching — and waiting to weigh in —on Matthews and Jackson’s next move.
