Things are coming together very quickly for the new-look Chicago Bears front office and coaching staff, with GM Ryan Poles reportedly adding an AGM (Ian Cunningham) yesterday, and new head coach Matt Eberflus doing the same with the kinda-critically-important Offensive Coordinator spot: sounds like it’s gonna be Luke Getsy, formerly the Quarterbacks Coach and Passing Game Coordinator of the Green Bay Packers.
Adam Schefter with the news drop, including the bonus Schadenfreude:
Packers’ QB coach Luke Getsy is expected to leave Green Bay for the Bears’ offensive coordinator job, per league sources. Packers now will be losing Nathaniel Hackett and Getsy, leaving holes in their offensive coaching staff.

Not to mention the possible losses of both Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams, too …
For the Bears, the focus is on making sure the offense is optimized to take advantage of Justin Fields’ talents, as well as further develop his skills. Getsy must’ve come in for his interviews prepared with a well-articulated plan for just that. It’s expected that the new OC for the Bears will be the man in charge of running the offense, with Eberflus coming from the defensive side of the ball.
Not that Getsy will be working alone, as we know the Bears will also be adding a new quarterbacks coach, as well as (probably) a passing game coordinator. Dave Kaplan suggested that Pep Hamilton would not be leaving Houston at this point, so you can maybe cross that one off. But Jeff Hughes has indicated that former Panthers (and LSU) OC Joe Brady could be in the mix at QB coach. That’d be a coup. Stay tuned on that front.
As for Getsy, more coming on the new Bears OC when the move becomes official. I can’t wait to hear his thoughts on what the Bears have to work with, and how he plans to approach an offense that was brutally stagnant under Matt Nagy.

This guy gets it. Can’t wait to see what he can do with Justin Fields. #DaBears pic.twitter.com/R88lZHWjjR
