247Sports has produced its annual list of Signing Day winners and losers, and unsurprisingly the Oregon Ducks earned a big recruiting victory, according to the site.
At its lowest point, Oregon’s 2022 recruiting class fell outside the top-80 but currently sits at No. 25 nationally (there’s still uncommitted prospects) after a successful Wednesday that saw Dan Lanning’s coaching staff add several big-time prospects.
The Ducks’ big Wednesday additions included All-American running back Jordan James, who flipped from Georgia, Central Catholic four-star edge-rusher Emar’rion Winston and Washington four-star offensive lineman Dave Iuli, who was heavily recruited by Miami’s Mario Cristobal.
Those players added to a January talent collection that included California four-star defensive back Jahlil Florence, who was the nation’s top-rated unsigned cornerback at the beginning of the week.
Here’s a look at what 247Sports had to say about Oregon’s big day:
“Oregon might have lost Mario Cristobal, but they appear to have found another talented recruiter in Dan Lanning. The Ducks had as good of a Wednesday as anyone, reeling in faxes from Top247 running back Jordan James, four-star pass rusher Emar’rion Winston and four-star offensive lineman Davi Iuli. That’s after landing blue-chip defensive backs Khamari Terrell and Jahlil Florence in the days leading up to National Signing Day.
“Oregon’s class might not rank inside the top 25 this cycle, but if this finish is a sign of what’s to come under the direction of Lanning, watch out.”
Other notable winners included reigning national champion Georgia and Cristobal’s Miami (Fla.) program, while losers were “low-lighted” by Arizona State and Florida, who offered Oregon signees James, Winston and Lake Oswego four-star athlete Justius Lowe.
