Huh, interesting! I’ve only played the first Xenoblade but never beat it–got stuck on the Gadoult fight and just kinda gave up. I like traversing the open environments, but the combat is too frustratingly complex for me, and if I’m being honest, the characters didn’t really grab me.
But as a person of faith, I think that’s pretty neat! I can’t think of any specific biblical allusions from my time with the first game. Maybe I’ll dip my toe back into the series someday; Xenoblade 2 has some really stunning environments I would like to traverse, but I hear the battle mechanics are even more complex, and I know it leans more heavily into anime tropes, which just isn’t my cup of tea.
Edit: I will say, I had way too much fun being able to change costumes before replaying cutscenes, lol. Dunban wearing a pair of high heels as he solemnly looks over the balcony lamenting the death of his sister while Shulk comes out in a pair of flippers and a snorkeling mask in the middle of the night to console him is some of the hardest I’ve ever laughed. I couldn’t breathe, haha.
