Deputies responded to the shooting near Chupadero/Tesuque area early Saturday early morning in referral to a shooting. When they showed up, they discovered 18-year-old Fedonta Mikel White, Jr., dead from a gunshot injury. The teenager passed JB and was a star basketball player for Santa Fe High where he had just finished. According to a release from Santa Fe Public Schools, JB was headed to the University of New Mexico to play for the Lobos. “Our entire neighborhood is surprised and distressed by the loss of somebody whom we celebrated during his memorable time on the court and whose talent was a happiness to sports fans throughout New Mexico. We are deeply shaken,” stated SFPS Superintendent Dr. Veronica C. Garcia. “We send our sincere condolences to his household and all who liked him. It is offensive to lose somebody so young and with such pledge for the future.” Santa Fe High Principal Carl Marano stated, “It is with great unhappiness and misery that my sincere acknowledgements and prayers are with our trainee, Fedonta JB White, who passed away tragically this early morning, and his household.
