City Connection will re-release CAVE Interactive-developed shoot ’em up Akai Katana in 2022, the company announced. Platforms were not announced, but the game was shown running on Switch.
The re-release is being handled by a new, shoot ’em up-centric team within City Connection named TAKExOFF, which is led by City Connection planner Takehiro Eda (Chantake) and Zerodiv Fukushima Factory, which is made up of former SPS staff. The same team also handled the December 2021-released Deathsmiles I & II. The “TAKE” in the name comes from “Takehiro,” and the “OFF”—or “0FF”—comes from “Zerodiv Fukushima Factory.”
Further details were not announced.
