Update: It wouldn’t be a video game rumour without clarification, would it? Jeff Grubb has since taken to Twitter to expand upon his comments, explaining that he’s also heard rumours that there’ll be no Sony showcase until at least September:

This wouldn’t be entirely out of the ordinary, as last year it hosted a livestream in September, as opposed to during the summer. He further explained on ResetEra: “I’m saying there are two competing sets of rumors circulating among people who sometimes know what is up.”

Make of it all what you will.

Original Story: Here, who’s up for a cheeky weekend rumour? We know that waiting for Sony to actually do something can be a painstaking process, especially when gossip like this is floating about, but these latest whispers are still worth pointing out.

This particular rumour originates from talkative (and reliable) games reporter Jeff Grubb, who, on the latest episode of GB Decides, says that Sony might have a showcase set for the first week of June. Grubb cites “multiple” sources, but can’t outright confirm that an event is happening.

Take it all with a grain of salt, then — as always with stuff like this — but the timing of such a showcase would make sense. We know that Sony has the ammunition for a big event, and the summer is shaping up to be the opportune time for publishers to share their plans — especially with Summer Game Fest locked and loaded.
