Matt Adams “almost certainly” headed to Injured List; Ozzie Albies may join him – Talking Chop

The Braves would be smart to put Albies on the hurt list for 10 days. Wrist injuries have a tendency to stick around, and with the way the rest of the lineup is carrying out and the accessibility of Adeiny Hechavarría, Charlie Culberson and Johan Camargo on the roster, it would be foolish to risk permanent injury for a couple of unimportant video games in a pandemic-shortened season.

The more worrying issue for the Braves is the health of Albies, whose wrist has obviously troubled him for weeks. Ozzie did not look good at the plate on Tuesday night and even batted left-handed against a left-handed pitcher– hes a switch player– suggesting his wrist is bothering him more than initially believed.

Adams heading to the IL would probably open up a spot for Nick Markakis, who re-joined the group recently after originally pulling out due to COVID-19. It is uncertain if Markakis is prepared to play after missing three weeks, however even if he isnt activated tomorrow, one would presume he would not be too far behind.

Adams, who homered in the second inning of Tuesdays video game, appeared to pull a hamstring while running out a ball in the 4th inning and immediately left the game. Thankfully for Adams the pull did not seem excessively major, however one that appears “practically certain” to send him to the Injured List for a long time, per Snitker.

Snitker stated they will discuss the possibility of Albies going on the injured list. He was pretty certain Adams will wind up on the IL.– Mark Bowman (@mlbbowman) August 5, 2020

It was not all great news following the Braves 10-1 win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday night as Brian Snitker upgraded the statuses of Matt Adams and Ozzie Albies.
