The Buckeyes captains echoed those sensations on a teleconference earlier in the week, with offensive lineman Wyatt Davis stating the university has been doing its part and the athletic department has done a terrific job of keeping track of the players and creating a safe work environment.
On the same teleconference, quarterback Justin Fields echoed what Davis said about his convenience level but did reveal some issues, stating they are out of the athletic departments control.
” I do not actually have a concern about whats going on here at Ohio State, always,” Fields said. “My only issues that pop up in my head are what are they doing at other schools and need to there be a base treatment that schools have to go through.
The letter launched by the Ohio State athletes says the university and athletics department have followed the correct standards, and they desire their requirements to be followed by every other Big Ten organization.
The group applauds athletic director Gene Smith, head physician Dr. James Borchers and the coaches and personnel, saying they have the professional athletes complete trust. The athletes stated they comprehend the inherent threat of playing throughout the pandemic but added that they are comfy with playing a season as the scenario stands.
Ohio State athletes launched a declaration Friday expressing their complete satisfaction and level of convenience with the way the university has handled their safety and wellness.
The Buckeyes athletes wrote the letter in reaction to the Big Ten United group. That group, which represents more than 1,000 conference athletes, put out a statement requesting more stringent security and prevention procedures for COVID-19, more oversight and transparency with the guidelines and screening, and gamer guarantees and medical and scholarship security.
The response from the Ohio State professional athletes stated they appreciate the Big Ten United groups intents to protect gamers and voice issues, but that it does not represent the efforts and actions at their school.
” We believe our institution is supplying the proper structure and company for security,” the letter said. “Here at Ohio State, we #SetTheStandard for what college sports ought to appear like amid COVID-19.”
