The first couple of days I was in wonder that I remained in Malibu, at an outside private swimming pool. After I got over that, I was able to enter my zone.
Its my 4th week now. I feel sore and worn out, but its the great type of tired and aching that I really missed out on and delight in. Im striking my periods and going quickly, and feeling great once again.

How do I know that? There is a little digital clock beside the side of the swimming pool. Whatever I do is based on the clock. I can see I am getting much better at hitting my intervals. I will try to do 10 sets of 100 meters, starting another one every 90 seconds. I can already hit 1:15 or 1:20 for the very first three or 4. I start to fall off.

I also do longer sets. Ive done 10 periods of 400 meters, starting each one every 6 and a half minutes.

I was still trying to find a pool when I got one of the excellent messages of my life. For these first couple of months, the focus is to stay constant and put in yardage. I am setting about 20,000 meters a week, which is about half of what I would be doing if I had not taken the majority of the last 3 years off.
I have to be hitting the Paralympic requirements by January and be ready for the trials in less than a year. I cant afford to get hurt.
My original strategy was to be in Colorado training by now. Since Ive got access to this swimming pool and we have no concept what is going to happen with the infection rates, I am going to press that back a month.
Im living in my youth bed room in Bloomington, Calif., however I have no desire to leave right now. I get a stipend from being an ambassador with the Challenged Athletes Foundation. Which assists if I can make the nationwide team once again I will be qualified for a little cash.

I may be able to get some speaking engagements, but I am late for this Olympic cycle and most of the sponsors are dedicated somewhere else.

Its going to be a hard year economically. I understand that. Im not excellent with money and finances. I have not saved my entire life and when I go to Colorado, Ill have to be paying for my own location, even if ultimately I am swimming at the Olympic Training.
In the meantime, I am going to keep doing what I am doing. Ive got so much more experience. Its going to come. Its a procedure. In two weeks I will bump the training approximately five or six times a week.
Ive got so much more viewpoint now. Im really doing this for myself. I have not had any contact with a coach. Thats fine. There is absolutely nothing to talk about today.
