Penn State gets commitment from 4-star Georgia TE Holden Staes – 247Sports

Staes became the 4th member of Penn States Class of 2022 and second tight end in the group, signing up with Wisconsin four-star Jerry Cross. While Penn State doesnt have a dedication from a tight end in the Class of 2021, it now holds dedications from several gamers at the position in future classes. Staes and Cross both check in amongst the leading 200 total in the Class of 2022 and the Nittany Lions got a commitment from Class of 2023 Virginia standout Mathias Barnwell back in June.

It just took one visit, but it sufficed for Atlanta (Ga.) Westminster School Class of 2022 tight end Holden Staes to make a decision. The four-star rising junior checked out Penn State over the weekend and on Thursday evening he announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions.

He was a first-team All-Region selection last year at Westminster, which produced previous Penn State punter Blake Gillikin.

While Penn State doesnt have a dedication from a tight end in the Class of 2021, it now holds dedications from several players at the position in future classes. Staes and Cross both check in amongst the leading 200 overall in the Class of 2022 and the Nittany Lions got a dedication from Class of 2023 Virginia standout Mathias Barnwell back in June. The Nittany Lions also took a set of tight ends in their Class of 2020 in Theo Johnson and Tyler Warren.

Staes has a substantial deal list that includes Alabama, Arizona State, Auburn, Colorado, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio State, Oregon, South Carolina, USC, USF and Wisconsin among the Power Five ranks.

He was hired for the Nittany Lions by tight ends coach and Georgia native Tyler Bowen.
