It doesnt quite feel real being in a quiet arena and watching fairly well-known people play a baseball video game.
On television, these video games mostly look like regular regular-season MLB contests to me, even with the empty seats, phony noise and commentators frequently piped in from afar. The theater of television and the familiar voices like Mike Krukow, Ray Fosse, and Duane and Glen Kuiper just make it appear reasonably normal. Up close on Saturday at Oracle Park, in my very first taste of the pandemic-shortened regular season, it didnt feel much different than a carefully prepared and almost private practice video game that just so occurred to involve a lot of As and Giants gamers.
