Now, its possible thats in fact the cost, its possible thats a placeholder (its likewise possible its fake, of course, I trust Pearce, but who learns about her source).
This one is not “main” in any capability, and not individuals doing back-bending computations about a Monster Energy reward swimming pool to figure out the price of an Xbox Series X, however rather it originates from a retail source.
Gaming journalist/podcaster/host Alanah Pearce was on the Kinda Funny Xcast, and said she was DMed by somebody working in retail that showed her a picture of their internal screen that offered a November release date for the Series X, and it said that the price was $599.
Xbox Series X
MS.
We are most likely 2 weeks approximately far from finally finding out the rate of the Xbox Series X, and its little pal, the Xbox Lockhart/Series S, and as such, the leaks are going to begin spooling up.
Lots of have actually speculated that since of the sheer horsepower of the Xbox Series X, that it would nearly need to be priced at $599, lest Microsoft lose excessive cash on each unit. My theory was that they would take that loss in order to match and attempt, if not undercut Sony this time around at $500, but then theres the 2nd part of this.
That would be the existence of the Xbox Series S. Microsoft just recently phased out the Xbox One X, which was priced new at $400. That leaves space for the lower power Series S to possibly cost $400 while the Series X would cost $600. A $200 gap in between them would make more sense to me than simply a $100 gap, which doesnt look like enough of a distinction to necessitate 2 consoles at all.
This does, nevertheless, line-up with a couple of different elements.
The follow-up question is obviously, is a $600 cost point for the Series X a good concept?

Again, we need to know more probably by the end of the month, however for now, its something to consider.
PS5.
Sony.
If Sony has either console, disc or digital, priced at $500, and Xbox Series X costs at $600? And with analysts already predicting that Sony will likely keep its 2:1 sales lead from last gen when PS5 takes on Series X, a $100 cost gap would only enhance that.
That obviously depends upon Sony. If Sony also feels the need to rate that high, then fine, we have sort of a monopoly circumstance where both consoles are simply … really expensive, though may be Sony tries to move its digital one in there for $550 or something.
I hope that this is not the final list price of the console. Particularly because I dont want the PS5 to also cost $600 if they match, however then simply for Xboxs sake, an ultra high price at launch undercut by Sony is going to make for an exceptionally rough launch.
That would be the presence of the Xbox Series S. Microsoft just recently phased out the Xbox One X, which was priced brand-new at $400. That leaves area for the lower power Series S to potentially cost $400 while the Series X would cost $600. If Sony has either console, disc or digital, priced at $500, and Xbox Series X prices at $600? And with experts already predicting that Sony will likely keep its 2:1 sales lead from last gen when PS5 takes on Series X, a $100 rate space would only amplify that.
