The golden chances were scarce after that, as the bats were mighty peaceful in the short video game.
Complete box score.
Four straight losses for the Cubs, which is like losing 11 straight in a regular-length season. HOWEVA, it is not * actually * 11 straight losses. So thats excellent? Better?
It still draws.
Kyle Hendricks cruised today through six innings, with his only hit permitted accounting for the only run he d permitted to that point– a Dexter Fowler solo homer– but encountered problem in the 7th. A double, walk, single filled the bases, and though he got one out after that, he departed in favor of Rowan Wick with one out. Wick gave up a two-run double right away.
The Cubs had a golden opportunity to set up an uneven number early, with Anthony Rizzo and Javy Báez reaching base at 3rd and 2nd, with one out. However the Cardinals walked Willson Contreras to load the bases for Ian Happ, hitting righty, and he struck out. David Bote bounced out after that.
