Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt said Monday that the Vols will appeal the NCAAs choice to reject offending lineman Cade Mays waiver to be qualified instantly this season after transferring from Georgia.
Mays, a junior, began in 18 video games during his two seasons at Georgia and was predicted to be a pillar in Tennessees offensive line this season. Pruitt expressed frustration that Mays preliminary waiver was denied.
” Theres a lot of unpredictability there, and I hate it for him and dislike it for every young guy and female who desires to transfer,” said Pruitt, who pointed out that he was a transfer in college. My question is: Why should we stand in the way of a young guy or lady trying to figure out where the right place is for them?

” I understand everybody that has actually moved from our location that I have written a recommendation letter for them to the NCAA and requested that they be authorized for immediate eligibility,” Pruitt stated. “I know its frustrating for Cade, and its annoying for our group.”
Mays daddy, Kevin, was an All-SEC offensive lineman at Tennessee in the 1990s. He submitted a suit last December against the University of Georgia, the UGA Athletic Association and a number of other entities. Kevin Mays right pinkie finger was captured in a folding chair and severed throughout Cades recruiting trip to Georgia in 2017.
