Reds could be short-handed in Kansas City even without additional positive tests – The Athletic

If the Reds are cleared by Major League Baseball to play Tuesday in Kansas City, the team could be without multiple players despite no additional positive tests for COVID-19, multiple sources told The Athletic.

In addition to the player who tested positive, multiple other players could be held out of Tuesday’s game as a result of contact tracing.

The Reds were informed of a positive test on Friday and a player was told immediately following the team’s victory over the Pirates. Reds players were tested Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings. The other players who could be held out of Tuesday’s game are expected to be tested again Tuesday. The team is scheduled to fly to Kansas City on Tuesday morning for a two-game series beginning that night at 8:05.

The Athletic does not publish the names of players or team personnel who have tested positive for COVID-19 unless those leagues, teams or players have already identified them…
