Braves squander chances, pay for it this time in loss to Nationals – Talking Chop

In the bottom half of the inning, the much-maligned bottom third of the lineup came through as Adam Duvall moved over to 3rd on a Johan Camargo double before Austin Riley, who has been revealing some signs of life in current days, smoked an inside fastball for a two-run single to offer the Braves a 3-2 lead. Austin did run himself into an out on the play and displayed some fascinating sliding abilities, but it was still good to see him contribute.

Josh Tomlin took the mound for the Braves and, for the many part, he was whatever that the Braves might have reasonably hoped for from a guy that essentially got yanked out of a bullpen function. The Braves brought in AJ Minter after three runs had actually scored and the bases were still packed with one out. In the top of the eighth inning, Robles would get work done with the bat as well with a leadoff double and would come home a couple of pitches later on an RBI single from long time Braves nemesis Trea Turner. The Braves would have their opportunities late in the game. Marcell Ozuna would then flyout softly to end the inning and Braves fans were unfortunate.

The Braves played a back and forth video game with Washington on Tuesday night and in spite of a big night from Freddie Freeman and a strong game at the plate from Ender Inciarte, some bad defense from the Braves and some great defense from the Nats proved to be the difference in the Braves 8-5 loss to Washington.

The Nationals would add some offense in the top of the ninth. After Mark Melancon enabled back to back baserunners after getting two fast outs, Eric Thames would get an RBI single to press the Nationals result in 8-5. Melancon would then walk Victor Robles to load the bases, however luckily he got Trea Turner to ground out to keep things affordable.

The Nationals would be the beside score as the Braves would waste a couple of possibilities in the meantime. In the top of the eighth inning, Robles would get work finished with the bat too with a leadoff double and would get back a couple of pitches later on an RBI single from very long time Braves nemesis Trea Turner. Shane Greene would go on to get a double play and a groundout to leave the inning, but the damage was done.

Sadly, the Braves couldnt reproduce the magic from last night and rather of an insane rally, they went silently in the bottom of the ninth as Washington protected the win.

Josh Tomlin took the mound for the Braves and, for the most part, he was whatever that the Braves might have fairly expected from a person that basically got tugged out of a bullpen function. He definitely quit some hard contact, but when you get 4 decent innings from a guy like that when many of your other beginners cant provide you 2, you take that. Tomlins final line on the day was 4 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K.

It was more Braves in the bottom of the fourth. After Dansby reached base on a fielders option, Freddie Freeman, who is still proficient at baseball. connected for a two-run homer to right that extended the Braves cause 5-2.

The Braves got on the board initially, and really rapidly at that, as the first 3 hitters reached base through lasers with Travis dArnauds RBI double providing the Braves an early 1-0 lead. The next two runs would be scored by the Nationals with a reasonable little bit of difficult contact and doubtful defense to blame and the Nationals would lead 2-1 going into the bottom of the 3rd.

The Braves nearly took the lead after that when Austin Riley sent a scorcher to center field for what looked like a two-run proceed homer. Victor Robles had different ideas and regardless of the ball Riley struck having a xBA of.910 … well, Robles beat the chances and made simply a fantastic catch to end the inning.

The Braves brought in AJ Minter after 3 runs had actually scored and the bases were still filled with one out. Minter would then enable a run to score on a groundout, but would escape from without any more damage than that as the Braves found themselves tracking 6-5.

The Braves would have their opportunities late in the video game. Marcell Ozuna would then flyout softly to end the inning and Braves fans were sad.
