MLS stated the game is considered to be held off and will be rescheduled.
Twenty minutes prior to the game was supposed to begin, MLS published this message on its social networks channels:
” The entire Major League Soccer family is deeply saddened and frightened by the senseless shooting of Jacob Blake and events in Kenosha. We continue to stand with the Black Community throughout our nation– including our employees and players– and share in their anger, pain and aggravation.
” The entire Major League Soccer family unequivocally condemns bigotry and has actually constantly meant equality, but we need to do more to take tangible steps to impact change. We will continue to deal with our gamers, our clubs and the more comprehensive soccer neighborhood to harness our cumulative power to combat for equality and social justice.”
The rest of Wednesdays MLS games were likewise delayed as part of the players protests: Colorado at Dallas, LAFC at Real Salt Lake, Portland at San Jose, and Seattle at L.A. Galaxy. Nashville at Orlando started before Atlanta Uniteds game and was played.
All of Atlanta Uniteds gamers took part in warm-ups before the video game versus Inter Miami. Both teams returned into the locker spaces once the warm-ups were total.
Some of Atlanta United reserves came out when the video game was going to begin. Inter Miamis beginners came out as if to play. Atlanta Uniteds beginners never came out of the locker room.
Atlanta Uniteds beginners eventually walked onto the field and postured for a team image that included all of the players from both teams, as well as the officiating crew. The officiating crew then walked off the field.

This isnt the first act of protest done by teams in MLS.
During the MLS competition in Orlando, players knelt on the field before games kicked off, following examples of groups in Europe. Teams continue to follow that practice during the leagues re-start.
Gamers used and continue to wear T-shirts with the slogan Black Lives Matter.
While in Orlando, some groups consisted of the names of individuals killed by law enforcement either in place of their names on the backs of their jerseys, or composed on the bottom of their jerseys.
The Major League Soccer Players Association released this statement Wednesday night:.
” The MLSPA stands with the choice made by the gamers– and those made by players in other leagues– not to play tonight in demonstration of systemic racial oppression, the most recent example of which is the dreadful shooting of Jacob Blake.
” Some things are much more important than sports. Modification needs to happen and professional athletes are devoted to leading the way.”.
