Bears expected to name Mitchell Trubisky as starting QB, source says – ESPN

The Chicago Bears are expected to call Mitchell Trubisky as their beginning quarterback, a source informed ESPNs Adam Schefter on Friday.
Trubiskys development, leadership and total performance throughout training school are elements for the decision, the source informed ESPN.
Bears coach Matt Nagy had insinuated last weekend that he would avoid selecting between Trubisky and Nick Foles until the Bears opened the routine season on Sept. 13, however he backtracked on Monday, instead suggesting he would make a choice early next week.
Trubisky and Foles have actually been locked in a battle for the beginning task throughout training school, uniformly rotating days on the first group considering that cushioned practices started Aug. 17.
In 2018, Nagys first season as head coach, the Bears went 12-4 as Trubisky passed for 3,223 backyards and 24 goals with 12 interceptions and rushed for 421 lawns and 3 touchdowns.
Trubisky, while playing much of last season with a shoulder injury that needed surgical treatment in January, ranked 28th in the NFL in Total QBR (39.4 ), connected for 27th in goal passes (17 ), 21st in passing yards (3,138), 32nd in lawns acquired per pass effort (6.1) and 28th in standard quarterback ranking (83.0) as the Bears finished 8-8.
Chicago traded for Foles– the MVP of Super Bowl LII– at the start of the brand-new league year. The Bears later on decreased Trubiskys fifth-year alternative and revealed an open quarterback competition in training camp.
