No surprises for the Cincinnati Bengals when they released their first 53-man roster on Saturday – Bengals.com

There is absolutely no suspense as the Bengals launch their first try at the 53-man lineup late Saturday afternoon and are conserving it all for Sunday after they have first crack at the NFLs waiver wire and form their biggest practice squad ever with 16 players.

This year, all gamers are qualified for the practice team once they clear waivers.

Years of NFL experience remain in parenthesis:

If signed to the active lineup, this season groups can protect 4 practice squad players weekly and no one is subject to waivers.

Ryan Finley (2 ), Joe Burrow (R).

Jake Dolegala, the undrafted rookie who headlined in 2015s roster cutdown when he made it, didnt have a preseason to reveal off his big arm and signed up with four-year veterinarian Brandon Allen on the cutting block. But Allen isnt based on waivers and as a street complimentary agent he could return to the Bengals in some type on Sunday.

And, obviously, theres the Josh Rosen element if he does certainly hit the waiver wire. At 6-4, 226-pounds, Rosen is the size the Bengals like their quarterbacks and can any group hand down a player who was the 10th pick in a draft two years ago even if hes a backup on his third team?

The practice team seems where at least among the two quarterbacks they cut Saturday are headed.

In the Covid era the Bengals would no doubt like to have three quarterbacks under control. Allen was signed near the start of training camp because of his vast understanding of the scheme dealing with Bengals head coach Zac Taylor in Los Angeles.

So who would go from todays 53?

Remember how quickly they grabbed Perine off waivers when the Dolphins cut him after the Bengals had him last season? His special group capabilities and size (235 pounds) were never in doubt and he looked excellent during camp. If Perine is the big back backup, then Williams is the shifty third-down back backup for Bernard. Plus they believe he can develop on last seasons 124 snaps in the kicking video game as a novice.

Another no surprise here. Remember how quickly they grabbed Perine off waivers when the Dolphins cut him after the Bengals had him last season? His special group abilities and size (235 pounds) were never in doubt and he looked great during camp. Williams is the shifty third-down back backup for Bernard if Perine is the huge back backup. Plus they believe he can build on last seasons 124 snaps in the kicking game as a novice.

A.J. Green (10 ), Tyler Boyd (5 ), Alex Erickson (5 ), Mike Thomas (5 ), John Ross III (4 ), Auden Tate (3 ), Tee Higgins (R).

Thomas had an excellent camp, which makes it a no-brainer that they would keep seven. Include the reality they calmed down the previous three weeks on Green and Ross after they got dinged early and its no surprise Thomas would be the fortunate 7.

Giovani Bernard (8 ), Joe Mixon (4 ), Samaje Perine (4 ), Trayveon Williams (2 ).
