Barstool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy used an apology to his employees over resurfaced remarks he made about Colin Kaepernick after previously promising he would not “bend the knee” to the viral mob.
On Monday, Portnoy remained defiant in reaction to “cancel culture” when a 2016 clip from Barstool Sports “The Rundown” was amplified by critics revealing Portnoy comparing the then-San Francisco 49er quarterback to an “ISIS person” and stating he looked “Arabic.”.
He safeguarded his remarks, insisting it was “actually a joke from The Office,” while acknowledging they wouldnt be tasteful today and dismissed his critics who he believed were “haters” who had desired to eliminate him for several years.
However, on Thursdays “emergency interview,” Portnoy struck a considerably different tone with a video message mainly addressing his own personnel.
After retweeting screenshots of Barstools protection defending Kaepernick over the years, Portnoy struck back by retweeting a screenshot from a 2009 tweet written by Hill which was labeled “transphobic” by the Twitter user.
