Shortly after the Golden Knights beat the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7 on Friday, a reporter asked Vegas coach Peter DeBoer about getting ready for Dallas. “I require a drink after the last three games before I think about Dallas,” the coach quipped. Life in the bubble comes at you quickly, because less than 48 hours later, the Western Conference finals are here. The Knights will be without Ryan Reaves, who was suspended one game for his hit on Tyler Motte. Stars folk hero Joel Kiviranta– who played in 11 video games this season then in some way summoned a hat technique consisting of the OT game-winner in Game 7 versus the Avs– is back into the Dallas lineup for Game 1. And it sure feels like Dallas will be riding out Anton Khudobin, not the injured Ben Bishop, for the foreseeable future. This series will be a display of 2 up-and-coming stud defenseman. Get used to the names Miro Heiskanen (Dallas) and Shea Theodore (Vegas). Youll be hearing them a lot.

New York Islanders 4, Philadelphia Flyers 0 (NYI win 4-3).
Dont look now, however the Isles are the highest-scoring group (3.33 goals per) left in the playoffs. Coach Barry Trotz opted for Thomas Greiss to provide his team “freshness,” and though the German tape-recorded the nothing, he only needed 16 saves to do it. Were going in the best direction, but … its one video game, we win this game and were a conference finalist.

About last night …

3 stars.
Scott Mayfield, D, New York Islanders.
After his damaged stick enabled the Flyers to score in double overtime in Game 6, Mayfield repented by getting the Isles on the board first; it was his first objective because Jan. 11.
Andy Greene, D, New York Islanders.
Greene has been an underrated contributor, and he got a moment to shine on offense with his 2nd goal of the series. A pointer that Greene, the former Devils captain, needed to waive his no-trade clause to sign up with the Isles in February.
Thomas Greiss, G, New York Islanders.
He required to make just 16 conserves and had long stretches without continual pressure, but a nothing is a nothing! Hes the second Isles goalie to do it in a Game 7, following Glenn “Chico” Resch from the 1975 quarterfinals against the Penguins.

Quote of the day.
People have actually worked their entire life to get this chance and get this far. The fan base is passionate and always talks about the wins back in the 80s and the groups and the Cups.– Isles forward Brock Nelson, who has been with the group since 2013.

” As I said to Barzy, as you go along youre gon na look a growing number of like a hockey gamer if youre winning,” coach Barry Trotz stated after.
For the record, Trotz also stated Game 7 may have been Barzals finest video game as a pro.
