Apple shares a look inside its first ever ‘floating’ store – The Verge

On the interior wall of the sphere there are baffles that produce shade and what Apple is calling a “nighttime lighting impact.” At the top of the sphere is an oculus that allows sunshine, which Apple states was influenced by the Pantheon in Rome. In addition to a shop flooring with all the typical gadgets on display screen, the dome houses a video screen and seating area to host the numerous talks and tutorials Apple likes to give at its shops.

Apples most current store has drawn contrasts to a floating lantern, with an unique style incorporating a glass dome that sits straight on the water of Singapores Marina Bay. The shop is called the Apple Marina Bay Sands, and lies in a high-end district of Singapore complete of shops, restaurants, and the Marina Bay Sands hotel and gambling establishment. The sphere is built from 114 specific pieces of glass kept in place by 10 vertical mullions (the architectural term for supporting bars in between panes of glass in a window), and Apple states the dome is a first-of-its kind building and construction: all-glass and totally self-supporting.

Possibly the most impressive thing about the brand-new shop is not physical at all, its something that the personnel supply. According to Apple, the Marina Bay Sands 148-person team jointly speak 23 languages: a fact that makes the shop more inviting to visitors than any architectural grow.
