Enhanced Box Score: Brewers 1, Cubs 0 – September 11, 2020 – bleachernation.com

There are so lots of takeaways from this one that probably will not leave me too upset come tomorrow, but the greatest one is that the Cubs just wasted a fantastic Jon Lester start. They might not get a lot more of those.

The Cubs bats might not get going in this one, in part since Brandon Woodruff has good stuff (as do the Brewers reducers), and in part because the strike zone was an absolute joke tonight. For the record, were 46 video games into the season, and I have not bitched about the strike zone ONCE yet this year. I cant be peaceful, due to the fact that it was atrocious, and it kept coming on big swing pitches against the Cubs.
The Cubs did likewise have three barrels on the night, and they had two outs and a ball that missed being a homer by a couple feet to show for them. Generally, you get more out of those.

The choices in the 9th inning were pretty darn unusual by David Ross, and well have to get into those more tomorrow. Sending Out Rowan Wick out for a 2nd inning was a little odd, but I can at least surmise the explanation (pen used up the other day, tie game on the road so youre going to need at least one more inning after that). Jeffress is fantastic, however hes most likely the reducer you d want LEAST in that circumstance.
Anyhow, a minimum of Craig Kimbrel looked actually excellent in a real high-leverage inning, and a minimum of there was this:

Complete box score.

Jon Lester has K d Christian Yelich swinging three times this evening.
Going through Baseball Savant, this seems the first time Yelich has actually set out swinging three times vs. the same pitcher in a video game because July 20, 2014, vs. Tim Lincecum.
