Maintenance tractor catches fire at Floridas football stadium – USA TODAY

A maintenance tractor caught on fire inside the University of Florida’s football stadium, the school said Saturday.

Clouds of smoke could be seen coming from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium after the blaze was extinguished on the third floor of the building, according to local television station WCJB-TV in Gainesville. No injuries were reported.

Images and videos of UF’s stadium could be seen on social media. According to Yahoo Sports, the fire was caused by a golf cart and the damage was not believed to be structural.

The fire is not expected to affect future games for the Gators. They starts their season Sept. 26 at Mississippi. Florida opens at home against South Carolina on Oct. 2.

Florida’s student section, dubbed “The Swamp,” is one of the most popular in all of college football. The university is expected to fill just 20 percent of its stadium capacity in 2020 due to COVID-19 concerns.
