Kevin Harvick wins Bristol night race – NASCAR on NBC Sports

Erik Jones– finished 3rd: “I guess it was a strong day. I believed we had a great cars and truck there at the end. However had to begin at the back and that took a while to resolve there and get some track position. It is actually challenging to pass here, even though it is a brief track. But a great run. The Auto Owners Camry got better all night, and truthfully the last run of the race was our best. We got up there into third and I kind of knew I could not beat those guys directly, so I attempted to conserve a little bit on the front side of the run and perform at the end hard, and just type of lacked time. I just began getting to those guys there when we took the checkered.”

I want to get Menards and Dutch Boy and this group an excellent run like they are worthy of due to the fact that weve had a rough couple weeks, and had a loose wheel, conquer it– drive through the whole field with a lot of green flag. We get to seventh, hoping for a caution, but either way we drove to the leading 10– excellent run– and I was yelling, Debris in (Turn) 1, three damn times and we found it. We ran it over numerous times and I cut the right-rear down and it just ruins our day.”

Kevin Harvick– winner: “We had just a really, truly great Busch Light Ford Mustang tonight. I got it a little dinged up with 50 or 60 laps to go. I knocked a hole in the nose and made it a little too tight through the center of the corner, but developed into a heck of a race, in and out of traffic there with Kyle (Busch). When pinned up there in traffic and I was able to do the same thing back and then hold the lead there up until the end, he got me. Simply really happy with everybody for everything that theyve done all year and simply continuing to fight, and theres not lots of races that you can win that are like winning here at the Bristol night race. That was a great deal of fun.”

Ryan Preece– completed 9th: “That was a really enjoyable night at Bristol Motor Speedway. This year has certainly had its obstacles for us, and weve worked so difficult to make the method and try play in our favor and get JTG Daugherty Racing the finish we should have and it feels actually good to be able to put all of it together. Our BUSHS Beans Chevrolet was actually excellent on the long run … The warns lastly fell our method and we were able to take advantage of it. Weekly for the rest of the season is so essential to keep focusing on the positives and get as many excellent surfaces as we can and to be able to get BUSHS Beans as top-10 finish at their home track is something were all pleased with.”

Chase Elliott– finished 7th: “Definitely thrilled to move on in the playoffs. Its certainly not going to get any much easier as it goes. Nice to get the phase point and phase win and we will try once again in Vegas.”

Tyler Reddick– ended up 4th: “Our No. 8 Childress Vineyards Chevrolet Camaro was a fast one tonight, and we had a fantastic finish to reveal for it at Bristol Motor Speedway. It took a couple adjustments to get our automobile to where I required it to be, but our communication as a group on what changes to make has actually been a huge focus for us over the past couple of weeks and that settled during tonights race. I fired off a little loose on the bottom and tight on the top, so our team had a choice to make on what to concentrate on. I felt that the top the much better groove for our car, so we picked to deal with loosening up our Chevrolet a little bit throughout the night and got it in a really excellent area for the final phase.

Aric Almirola– completed 5th: “We had a solid leading five tonight at Bristol and were carrying on to the Round of 12 once again. It was a great run. We missed it a bit to begin. This Smithfield Ford team worked so tough to make the right changes all night. I was ditching in the cars and truck to get whatever I could get. Truly happy with everyone on the race team. All set to see if we cant make it occur once again in this next round.”

We got a stage point in Stage 1. A little aggravating, however extremely annoyed that we simply cant seem to get some luck on the strategy side. Regrettable that we got caught three-laps down, or whatever it was, and youre simply stuck, especially that late in the race.

Ryan Blaney– completed 13th: “We started off tight and then that second run we got really tight after the competitors caution and lost a lot of track position. That simply kind of made it even worse and we simply kind of got behind there. I was kind of tight all night, but it simply swung actually tight on us and that was just the incorrect instructions that the track needed to be at.

Simply ludicrous that thats what takes us out. We simply required a couple excellent pitstops. Just incredibly disappointing– Ive got to go back and see that because that was kind of absurd.”

Austin Dillon– Finished 12th: “We did what we needed to do tonight in our Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Off Road/ E-Z-GO Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. We advanced to the Round of 12 in the NASCAR Playoffs. We began off really strong, however our Chevy ended up getting extremely tight in Stage 2. When Harvick slowed on the track to make a green-flag pit stop, we recuperated from that and were running in the top 10. I got on my brakes as tough as I could to prevent hitting him, however a lapped vehicle remained in the middle of the track and I had no place to go. My RCR team did a fantastic task making repairs, however we were never able to capture the break we needed to return into the top five. Our vehicle was quick total tonight, however, and Im eagerly anticipating seeing what we can achieve throughout the rest of the season. Well go to Las Vegas next week and try to get a win.”

Michael McDowell– finished 10th: “Well, what a remarkable night for our No. 34 Loves Travel Stops Ford Mustang. We got a top-10 at Bristol. Im truly pleased with everybody at Front Row Motorsports. Im so grateful to Bob Jenkins and all of my guys for providing me this opportunity. Its the best season that Ive ever had and another top 10 actually assists to keep our momentum rolling. We likewise have a Ford in Victory Lane, so thats awesome. Im simply super-excited to get a leading 10 at Bristol.”

Kyle Busch– completed 2nd: “Frustrated over ending up second. You understand, simply felt like this was one of our greater shots to win, and I do not understand. You know, simply come up brief. You know, Skittles Camry was quick and we had an excellent vehicle, one that was in contention all night long. Fired off the start of the race, I was like, oh, wow, this is a quite great automobile and then got beat by another really great automobile, I think.”

” Those changes made it so I was able to cut through traffic during that last phase and race our method into the top five for the last 100 laps or two. I believe I might have pressed my front tires a bit excessive on that final run, however this was an actually great night for our team. Were chasing wins in these staying races while also dealing with developing a strong note pad for next year, and this is a solid step in the right instructions for both of those goals.”

Brad Keselowski– completed 34th: “It was an aggravating night, there is no way around that. I am thankful we were able to lead some laps but that definitely was not what we were expecting. We had a power steering pump problem. I am not exactly sure precisely what it was. I will let the team guys get to that and chase it down. Undoubtedly it eliminated out chances. I do not understand what would have happened if we didnt have that problem but we did so we will move on to the next week and I am happy we had the win at Richmond recently to fall back on.”

Clint Bowyer– finished 6th: “We certainly did what we required to do. Our Rush Truck Centers/Cummins Engine Ford Mustang was quite good tonight. We were just way too loose to run with (Harvick or Busch). The cycle on the tires when we really had that care, had a cycle on the tires which normally makes it tighter which was without a doubt our finest run. We drove up through them pretty excellent and put ourselves in position there, but as soon as the green flag dropped right there at the end I was right back loose again. We did what we needed to do. Certainly, you come here to win a race and be on top of that structure over there, however proud of the guys and all their efforts. Were progressing and thats all that matters today.”

Cole Custer– ended up 23rd: “We simply had a hard time here. I do not understand why. Ive always liked Bristol, it just hasnt come together this year here. Weve just truly struggled. I just cant thank everybody enough at SHR, everyone at HaasTooling.com, Autodesk. I simply want we had a better night. We were simply a little bit off. I think we can hang our heads high on what weve done this year, but we still have a great deal of races to win the rest of this year, so we simply have to keep structure.”

Kurt Busch– finished 15th: “It was a great day, we had a loose wheel and we fought after that, but our phase points are what truly assisted the Monster Energy Chevy tonight. That offered us the cushion we needed to absorb the problem that we had. All-in-all we advanced whichs what we expected to do and that is what we have to continue to do. We will do it through team effort and execution. The next round we have a mile-and-a-half Superspeedway and then the Roval. Weve simply got to be on our toes, keep adjusting and adjust to all the important things that are coming our method the next round.”

That just kind of made it worse and we just kind of got behind there. Regrettable that we got trapped three-laps down, or whatever it was, and youre just stuck, specifically that late in the race.

Denny Hamlin– finished 21st: “I believe (Martin Truex Jr.) should have been on the splitter or something when he came out after he took a green flag pit stop. He just kind of went straight off of the corner. Im sure they got in the next round, however we simply had some bad luck.

Ty Dillon– Finished 18th: “Our Germain Racing group fought all night long. It was an actually great night for our GEICO Camaro ZL1 1LE. Everybody on our group executed throughout the entire race, from Matt (Borland) making great calls, the pit crew having excellent stops and Chris (Monez) on the spotter stand helping me navigate traffic. We all worked hard and it paid off. The vehicle was its finest at the end of the race, which is all you can request as a driver. Im proud of our effort and we will keep digging to end up strong.”

It wasnt as good as (Harvick and Busch) however we had something that was competitive and had that longer run with a loose ideal rear wheel and we tried to make it last long and it began to get quite bad. We were most likely 10 or 15 laps from the cycle being total and getting our lap back and being in contention for an even better surface. We had a solid automobile and we have a lot of momentum still into the playoffs with three truly solid runs outside of one little misstep here.

We got up there into third and I kind of understood I could not beat those guys straight up, so I attempted to save a little bit on the front side of the run and run at the end hard, and just kind of ran out of time. I was scrapping in the vehicle to get everything I could get. Every week for the rest of the season is so crucial to keep focusing on the positives and get as many excellent finishes as we can and to be able to get BUSHS Beans as top-10 finish at their home track is something were all proud of.”

We had a really good cars and truck all night. We simply had a tire concern under green there in the last phase and had to pit. We were just kind of caught there and unfortunately couldnt recover from that.

John Hunter Nemechek– completed 20th: “The team put together a strong top 15, maybe even top-10 vehicle tonight at Bristol. Our No. 38 Mystik Lubricants Ford Mustang was good on the long run, but we struggled a little with drive off. In general, we desired to be able to finish a few spots greater.

Daniel Suarez– completed 26th: “We should have better than that. In the middle part of the race, we were extremely tight for a long time till the Toyota Genuine Parts & & Service cars and truck really started coming to me on old tires. We didnt make any modifications on the last stop and it was feeling pretty good until what took place there at the end.
