The initial Pixelbook has a great run, but it looks as though Google is no longer making the premium convertible Chromebook. Its now showing as “No longer readily available” on the Google Shop, and when inquired about this by Engadget, the company didnt say it would be returning and instead pointed buyers to the Pixelbook Go.
This is unsurprising given the age of the OG Pixelbook– it came out in 2017– however whats bewildering is that Google hasnt looked for to update it because then. It was practically the best Chromebook, albeit overpowered and costly given the constraints of the OS. The kind aspect was spot on, the high resolution 3:2 display was perfect for efficiency, and the keyboard was unequaled for a portable computer system.
Some Pixelbook stock might still exist in some regional shops if anybody was still planning to buy one, but the Pixelbook Go is now the only Google laptop or tablet still available for purchase straight. The much-maligned Pixel Slate was stopped after a much shorter run, however nobody will have mourned that loss like the initial Pixelbook. RIP.
Weve all been calling for a modest upgrade with updated internals and a bigger screen with smaller sized bezels, which may still reach some point, although there are no rumors about such a gadget statement at Googles Launch Night In at the end of this month. We only understand that about the Pixel 5, Pixel 4a 5G, brand-new Google Chromecast/Google TV dongle, and new Nest Audio speaker, but perhaps theres a surprise in shop– dont hold your breath.
