Much to the irritation of Gilbert Burns.
Ultimate Battling Champion (UFC) just recently upgraded its main rankings in the wake of its UFC Vegas 11 mixed martial arts (MIXED MARTIAL ARTS) event, which occurred last Sat. night (Sept. 19, 2020) inside the promos peak facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Former UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley continued his 170-pound free fall, dropping to No. 7 following his third successive loss, courtesy of longtime rival Colby Covington, who takes control of the No. 2 spot with his fifth-round surface.
Despite his mind-blowing 17-second knockout over Gerald Meerschaert (enjoy it here), undefeated possibility Khamzat Chimaev will not make his launching in the main rankings right now, merely because “Borz” has yet to face (and defeat) a ranked opponent.
Heres a refresher on how the rankings work, thanks to UFC.com:

The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the leading fighters in the UFC by pound-for-pound and weight-class. The champion and interim champ are considered to be in the leading positions of their respective divisions and therefore are not qualified for voting by weight-class. The champions can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.

There you have it.
Rankings were created by a ballot panel made up of media members. The media members were asked to vote for who they feel are the leading fighters in the UFC by pound-for-pound and weight-class. A fighter is just eligible to be voted on if they are in active status in the UFC. The champion and interim champion are thought about to be in the top positions of their particular divisions and therefore are not eligible for voting by weight-class. The champs can be voted on for the pound-for-pound rankings.
