Braves’ Max Fried exits after one inning with ankle injury – Atlanta Journal Constitution

Wednesday was Frieds last tune-up before the postseason when, if healthy, hes anticipated to begin Game 1 of the best-of-three wild-card round next week at Truist Park. This was Frieds 2nd trip because returning from the 10-day injured list with a back injury that cost him one start. Preferably, he wouldve logged a heavier work Wednesday with a week until his next getaway.
Snitker was positive that Fried avoided a major injury, however he stated the group would understand more later Wednesday night and Thursday.
” The preliminaries are excellent, but well know more (later) this evening,” he said. “He was walking gingerly a bit. We didnt wish to take any possibilities. … I believe it will be great. Tomorrow, well see where hes at and plan from there.”
Fried, 26, finishes his breakout season with a 7-0 record, a 2.25 ERA with a 50:19 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 11 starts (56 innings). The left-hander brought a decimated rotation, providing the only little bit of dependability and consistency the Braves got from the group. Hell be among the crowded field of National League Cy Young award contenders.
