Its not unusual for merchants to miss launch day shipment, which is why in-store pickup, when you can handle it, might still be a favored option (if we werent, you know, in a pandemic where waiting in a giant line wasnt a bad idea). I didnt desire to pre-order from Amazon for this factor, but the state of Xbox Series X pre-orders was an utter mess and it was the only site I could get to work after 90 minutes of trying and sellouts within seconds somewhere else.
My PS5 from Target, for instance, provides me an estimated date of November 12 (the real launch date) to November 14. Amazon? Is that a day later on?
Hopefully we are all just claiming an additional email with an actual date that is on or close to launch. But between the pandemic and sky-high interest in next-gen consoles resulting in these instant sellouts and indeed overselling at merchants, I will not be surprised if there is some drama with both PS5 and Xboxes getting provided a lot later than anybody was preparing for when they positioned their initial pre-orders. And provided all the substantial video games launched that week tied to those exact launch dates, thats really not a fantastic scenario at all. Stay tuned for further threatening e-mail updates.
