Googles Hold for Me Assistant feature appears first on new Pixel phones – Engadget

When the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G arrive, theyll consist of an early sneak peek of Googles brand-new function for the Phone app, the Duplex-powered “Hold for Me.” Discussed during the Launch Night presentation and explained in an article, it lets Google Assistant wait around and wait on somebody to get when an organization is keeping you on hold.

Hold for Me conserves you, and your ears, hours of elevator music.
When youre postponed, Google Assistant will wait and inform you when somebody begins the line, all set to talk. Youll like it, unless elevator music is your jam.https:// t.co/ Jieau9GfMQ #LaunchNightIn #Pixel 5G pic.twitter.com/Ap6V4eJfq8— Made By Google (@madebygoogle) September 30, 2020
It follows Call Screen and Verified Calls as brand-new features that use Assistant to make telephone call less bothersome, and repurposes the Duplex advancements to let AI spot hold music and produce an alert once somebody in fact picks up. According to Google, youll see captions produced in real-time on your phones screen to let you understand whats occurring, as Duplex can inform when its getting a taped message vs. a live representative.
