Jason Peters injury: Eagles place left tackle on injured reserve due to toe issue – Bleeding Green Nation

Well, heres an unexpected development: the Philadelphia Eagles are apparently putting starting left deal with Jason Peters on hurt reserve. NFL expert Ian Rapoport states “an MRI revealed a toe injury that will take numerous weeks to heal.”

Peters needed to leave the Eagles Week 3 game versus the Cincinnati Bengals late in overtime. Doug Pederson minimized the seriousness of his status on Monday:

” Jason Peters will be alright. He came away– when youre playing 90-plus snaps and as damp as it was, it was just some tiredness that embeded in late in the video game. But hes going to be fine.”

Now hes going to be out for 3 weeks at the bare minimum.

Peters then missed out on practice on Wednesday and Thursday due to “illness.” He was listed as restricted in Fridays practice due to a toe injury and ruled questionable on the final injury report.

Just another Eagles season filled with considerable injuries!

Peters absence indicates the Eagles will be starting a brand-new offensive line configuration for their fourth straight game. An introduction:

If not Mailata, the Eagles could want to put Driscoll out at left take on. Or they could put Pryor out there and put Driscoll at best guard, but that has “disaster” composed all over it.

Perhaps Mailata ends up playing better than Peters? Thats a rather enthusiastic thought that may look absurd after he gets ruined out there. But its not like Peters was playing well; he actually struggled in Week 3.

That word could also be used to explain the 2020 Eagles season outlook.

Jordan Mailata was available in to replace Peters last week so one would assume he could be getting the start against the 49ers on Sunday Night Football. Huge test for a guy who never ever even played football until August 2018 and has 20 career routine season snaps to his name.
