Apple is seeking $31 million CAD ($22.7 million United States) from its former partner. GEEP hasnt rejected the theft, however claims that three staff members stoles the devices to benefit themselves, not the company. Apple countered that the workers were in reality GEEPs senior executives.
Apple does market reconditioned gadgets, but it wont attempt to enable or sell to be offered any that do not satisfy its safety or quality standards. “Products sent out for recycling are no longer appropriate to sell to consumers … and could trigger major security problems,” the business informed The Verge.
Nevertheless, right-to-repair groups have slammed Apple for its policies towards third-party service center and devices that are tough to repair. The company is moving some recycling in-house with machines called Dave and Daisy that can remove parts from 200 phones per hour to recover difficult-to-recycle elements that may not otherwise be recycled. Lots of critics think that Apple and other electronics manufacturers should be focusing on re-use, not recycling, if we want to reduce the 53 million tonnes of e-waste produced in 2019 alone.
