Tesla update lets you lock Sentry Mode/TeslaCam storage in glovebox – Electrek

Tesla has upgraded the glovebox to now get a USB port on the leading left corner of it, according to a photo of the upgraded design seen by Electrek.

Tesla is updating the interior of the Model 3 to let owners lock their Sentry Mode/TeslaCam storage device in the glovebox.

I think this is very clever.

Sentry Mode is Teslas integrated surveillance system inside its vehicles utilizing the Autopilot cameras around the automobile to tape-record prospective vandalism or other events.

The feature was very first introduced after burglars, particularly in the Bay Area, started targeting Tesla cars– resulting in a stream of cars and trucks entrusted damaged windows and belongings missing out on.

Now we learn that Tesla is introducing an option with the new Model 3 2021 refresh that we have been reporting on over the last couple of days.

In Model 3 and Model Y lorries, there is no physical button to open the glovebox and motorists have to open it through a command on the center touchscreen.

Tesla owners have to plug a storage gadget in among the USB ports in the center console and video taped by Sentry Mode and TeslaCam, the automakers dashcam function, will be stored on it.

Combining the updated 2021 Model 3 design with this new features leads to Tesla owners now being able to secure their Sentry Mode/TeslaCam storage device in a locked glovebox.

For current Model 3 and Model Y owners, you still have the choice to get the Jeda USB center, which allows you to conceal the storage gadget in a seamless center that looks like its part of the automobile while likewise providing you more ports.

We are beginning to determine that there are a lot more modifications to the Model 3 with the 2021 upgrade. We will have more to report in the coming days as we can verify more.

It assisted authorities catch thieves, however some were worried about thieves reaching the system and stealing the storage gadget with the footage of the burglary.

Just recently, Tesla started pressing a brand-new software update with a new feature called Glovebox PIN.

The reality that the phone battery charger is now integrated into the center console and theres no simple access beneath it, where the present USB ports are situated, there needed to be another solution for the storage device.

The brand-new port is going to connect to Teslas MCU and enable Tesla owners to use with a storage gadget, like a portable SSD, in order to tape-record Sentry Mode and TeslaCam events.

This is an extremely cool upgrade and something that I believed as I reported in my Model 3 2021 center console report.
