Padres say Tommy Pham in good condition after stabbing, surgery – The San Diego Union-Tribune

” I d like to thank the extraordinary medical personnel at UC San Diego Health for taking such excellent care of me last night,” Pham stated in a declaration released by the group. “I truly value the effort of the (San Diego Police Department) in addition to they continue their search for the suspects. While it was a really traumatic and mind-blowing experience for me, Im on the road to recovery and I know Ill be back to my offseason training routine in no time.”
Lt. Shawn Takeuchi, a San Diego cops spokesman, stated no description of the suspect was available, but that “it does not appear Mr. Pham understood the suspects.”
He stated investigators are investigating and looking for video from the club and other nearby services.
” We are aware of the occurrence last night involving Tommy Pham,” the Padres stated in a statement. The San Diego Police Department is actively investigating the occurrence and we will have no further remark at this time.”

Padres outfielder Tommy Pham was hurt in an altercation Sunday night outside a Midway District strip club and underwent surgery for a stab wound in his lower back, the group and player stated Monday.
San Diego cops stated Pham was stabbed about 10:35 Sunday night outside Pacers Showgirls International, on Midway Drive west of Rosecrans Street.
According to 2 individuals who consulted with Pham, the event occurred when Pham was leaving the club and came upon an argument occurring near his car. According to one of the individuals, Pham was attacked after asking individuals involved in the argument, who he did not know, to avoid his vehicle.
Cops explained the injury as a “slash injury” that was not harmful. No organs were harmed, and Pham received stitches to close the injury that pierced all 3 layers of skin.
