Prime Day 2020 streaming deals: Fire TV Cube for $80, Roku Streaming Stick Plus for $37 – CNET

This story is part of Amazon Prime Day, CNET’s guide on everything you need to know and how to make sure you get the best deal.

Amazon Prime Day kicked off just after midnight on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and the streaming sales are flowing. For instance, you can get some of Roku’s more popular devices from $21 to $37 (down from the typical $30 to $50). These deep discounts are currently available at Amazon and Best Buy, with Walmart already teasing some of these (and some Roku TVs starting as low as $100).

Will Amazon also drop its Fire TV Sticks to ultralow prices as it did during last year’s Black Friday sales? The online retailer didn’t preannounce those discounts (aside from the nice price drop on the Fire TV Cube and Fire TV Recast, listed below), but we’ll add them — and any other good streaming device deals we see this week — if and when they appear.

Note that prices and availability were accurate at the time of publication, but they may fluctuate. This story will be updated frequently in the days ahead.

The Roku Streaming Stick Plus retails for $50, but is available for $37 ($13 off) during Prime Day.  Unlike the Premiere and Express HD versions, the Streaming Stick Plus connects to TVs equipped with HDMI ports — and can stream up to 4K.

The Roku Premiere typically sells for $40, but is just $27 while supplies last. It takes the basics from the Express HD and adds in the ability to handle 4K HDR content.

This is Roku’s most basic streaming player. It’s usually priced at $30, but is available for just $21 during Prime Day. It can’t handle 4K HDR streaming, but works well otherwise.

The Fire TV Cube combines an Alexa voice-controlled speaker, a Fire TV 4K video streamer and a universal remote control into one device. If you like using your voice to control the TV — not to mention other devices in your Alexa-friendly household — it may well be worth taking the plunge on this interesting all-in-one product, marked down from $120 to $80 during Prime Day. Note that this is the 2019 version, which has added some nice improvements since we first evaluated it in 2018.

The Fire TV Recast is one of the easiest ways to record and stream over-the-air TV. It integrates seamlessly with a Fire TV Stick and at $100 off it’s an incredible bargain.
