Nick Saban: It doesnt seem quite right that he cant communicate with team if hes not at game – Yahoo Sports

” If youre the head coach, there ought to be a much better method to do it,” Saban said during his radio program Thursday night (through Bama Insider). Previous USC coach and present Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian is the interim coach in Sabans location.
If Saban was feeling OK and was dealing with an illness that wasnt an extremely contagious infection, he d likely be on the sidelines Saturday night.

Nick Saban wont have the ability to coach from another location on Saturday night versus Georgia.

Saban is set to miss out on the game since he checked favorable for COVID-19 on Wednesday. Saban said he is currently asymptomatic and feeling fine and has coached practices from another location with the assistance of video and audio feeds from No. 2 Alabamas practices.
He wont have that capability on Saturday against the No. 3 Bulldogs. NCAA rules prevent a coach from being able to communicate with his personnel and players while seeing the game from another place.
” If youre the head coach, there ought to be a better way to do it,” Saban said throughout his radio show Thursday night (through Bama Insider). “I dont understand precisely what that is, however there must be a much better way to do that. You ought to have the ability to have some communication with the sidelines much like I have communication with somebody on the field throughout practice.
” I cant directly talk with a gamer, but I can state, Tell 22 that he was expected to reroute the guy, or whatever. You cant have any of that, which does not appear rather ideal.”
If Saban was separating in a suite in the press box, it d be no big deal. Former USC coach and existing Alabama offensive organizer Steve Sarkisian is the interim coach in Sabans place.
The rule makes good sense. And was clearly composed in an age when COVID-19 didnt exist. He d likely be on the sidelines Saturday night if Saban was feeling Okay and was dealing with an illness that wasnt an extremely infectious virus.
Instead, hes following all protocols and will enjoy the game like many of us.
