Bungie released the Destiny 2: Beyond Light launch trailer on Thursday morning, less than two weeks from the expansion’s Nov. 10 release date. And while the trailer does include a bunch of Destiny 2 gameplay set to an orchestral cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black,” we also get a look at some of the expansion’s story.
The trailer opens with Commander Zavala using the same line he’s been using all season, that the Darkness is here. But the trailer shows what looks to be civilians running scared through the Tower Hangar. This could be a tease for an end-of-season event à la the crashing of the Almighty from Season of the Worthy — players have found an emblem that suggests something similar is on its way.
On Europa, we see Eris Morn and the Exo Stranger working together, wielding the power of Stasis — pure Darkness, as far as we know — against a group of Fallen.
The rest of the trailer is a smattering of gameplay and story we’ve seen before — notably during the ViDoc earlier this week. However, some eagle-eyed fans think they’ve spotted a glimpse at the Deep Stone Crypt raid’s final boss, based on some of the Collector’s Edition lore.
Bungie will launch Destiny 2: Beyond Light on Nov. 10 for PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One. Destiny 2 will get a next-gen version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X a month later, on Dec. 8.
