Some Ubisoft’s PS4 games will not work on PS5, including Assassin’s Creed titles – Polygon

All of Ubisoft’s Xbox One games will be backwards compatible on the Xbox Series X, but eight PlayStation 4 titles will not make the jump to PlayStation 5, according to a blog post on Ubisoft Connect.

“Most of our back catalogue of games will have backward compatibility between the next and current generation of consoles,” Ubisoft’s statement reads, “with a few exceptions.”

Those exceptions are Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles Trilogy Pack, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles India, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles China, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles Russia, Risk, Star Trek Bridge Crew, Werewolves Within, and Space Junkies — the space-themed VR shooter. Owners of those games for the PS4 will need to keep that console up and around if they want to keep playing.

But it’s not all bad news. Some of Ubisoft’s games that do boast backwards compatibility with the next generation will also have cross progression. Players will be able to transfer their PS4 save files in For Honor, The Division 2, The Crew 2 and the upcoming PS4 versions of Just Dance 2021 and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake to PS5 consoles.
