For the first time, NASCARs premier series will race on the famed Daytona International Speedway roadway course, part of a host of schedule modifications necessitated by the sports interruption throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
That race will be hung on Sunday, Aug. 16, two weeks prior to the Cup regular-season finale on the Daytona oval (Aug. 29). The Gander Outdoor Truck and Xfinity Series will likewise race on the road course that weekend.
The move to Daytona is a modification from the formerly revealed race at Watkins Glen International. Although upstate New York has not been as heavily affected by COVID-19 as other parts of the state, a travel advisory issued by Gov. Andrew Cuomo requires people who travel to New York from 19 states especially affected by the coronavirus to quarantine for 14 days.
