Last season, Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick was an All-Pro thanks in large part to his ability to make splash plays. This season, Fitzpatrick has been fairly quiet but not on Sunday. This past weekend against the Dallas Cowboys, Fitzpatrick finally had the game many of us had been waiting for all season as he helped the Steelers pull off a last-second win 24-19.
Fitzpatrick directly accounted for two turnovers on Sunday. First, Fitzpatrick scooped up a fumble to give momentum back to Pittsburgh. He did the same later in the game with his second interception of the season.
In addition, Fitzpatrick helped break up the fourth-down Hail Mary by the Cowboys to effectively end the game. In total Fitzpatrick had two passes defended in addition to six total tackles.
If the Steelers are going to be serious contenders in the second half of the season, Fitzpatrick needs more games like this. The lack of depth on the defense has been exposed the last two weeks along the defensive line. This puts the pressure on the secondary to step up.
